Captain of the Investigations Division

A Message from Captain Currington

​

I began my career with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office in February of 2011. I was hired by then Sheriff W.E. “Billy” Smith and began working in the Jail as a Detention Officer. I was already BLET certified, so after working in the Jail for approximately six months I was promoted to a Deputy. I feel my time working in the jail provided a solid foundation for me to be successful in this career.

After being promoted to a deputy,

I was assigned to the courthouse

as civil deputy. After a few weeks

at the courthouse, I was assigned

to the Patrol Division and began

field training. After successfully

completing field training, I worked

on patrol until being assigned to the

Community Crime Reduction Team

in 2015.

​

 

In August of 2017 while still

assigned to the Community Crime

Reduction Team I was promoted

to a Detective. In 2019 I was

assigned to the Narcotics Division.

I was promoted to the rank of

Detective Sergeant in December of

2022 and remained in the Narcotics Division.

​

 

In the early part of 2023 I transitioned out of Narcotics and was transferred back to the Patrol Division as a Patrol Sergeant. In March of 2024 I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and remained in the Patrol Division. In September of 2026 I was promoted to the rank of Captain and was assigned to the Detective Division to oversee daily operations.

Throughout my career I have had the honor to work with some of the best mentors and law enforcement professionals in the state.

 

My goal for the Detective Division is to continue serving the citizens of Lenoir County by solving crimes in a timely manner, treating every case with the dignity, and making Lenoir County a safer place to call home.
