DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Performs professional work in county detention center, assuring safety and security of inmates in assigned areas of the Sheriff’s Detention Facility. Employee is expected to be alert, tact and firm while performing work in accordance with specific instructions, policies and directions set forth by office. Employee serves as a member of assigned shift of personnel and answer to higher ranking supervisors. Work is performed under direct and general supervision of higher ranking personnel and standard operating procedures. Employees are subject to usual hazards associated with law enforcement including exposure to various hazards such as dangerous persons, loud noises, inside and outside work environment, hot and cold weather. Work may expose the employee to human blood or body fluids and thus the job is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Performs professional work in county jurisdiction to include enforcement of laws, service of civil process, service of warrants and other law enforcement functions. Employee is expected to be alert, tact and firm while performing work in accordance with specific instructions, policies and directions set forth by office. Employee serves as a member of assigned shift of personnel and answer to higher ranking supervisors. Work is performed under direct and general supervision of higher ranking personnel and standard operating procedures. Employees are subject to usual hazards associated with law enforcement including exposure to various hazards such as dangerous persons, loud noises, inside and outside work environment, hot and cold weather. Work may expose the employee to human blood or body fluids and thus the job is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens.
BLET Certification Preferred, but not required. Applicants who are not certified can be hired as Deputy Sheriff Trainee to attend BLET in either January or August.
