LCSO OVERVIEW
The Sheriff's Office is responsible for providing law enforcement within Lenoir County which encompasses a 480 square mile area. The Sheriff's Office also has a satellite division in the town of LaGrange. In addition to the many services the Sheriff's Office provides, the Sheriff has a team of volunteers who call the elderly once a day to check on their well being.
The Sheriff is the highest elected Law Enforcement official in the county. The Sheriff of Lenoir County is responsible for:
Service of all civil process papers
Courtroom and County Building Security
Confinement of all Pretrial Detainees
Management of 285 Bed Detention Center
Transport of all Prisoners to Prisons
Investigation of Drug Crimes
Sex Offender Monitoring Program
Enforcement of ALL laws in their jurisdiction
Response to 911 dispatches in the unincorporated areas of Lenoir County
The Sheriff is also elected by the citizens, therefore is dedicated to serving the citizens. In our current times, the Sheriff must not only enforce laws, but work with other agencies to arrest criminals, provided crime prevention and establish relationships to promote child safety. The Sheriff's Office works with local Community Programs to guide crime prevention and child safety including:
SafeKids Eastern Carolina - There are 6 certified Child Protective Seat
Technicians trained to assist with child seat inspections and installations. The
Sheriff's Office also actively assist with "bicycle safety programs" throughout
the county.
Community Watch Groups - The Sheriff's Office has a specialized team that
assist with organizing community watches and sharing information with these
groups.
Lenoir County CrimeStoppers Report - The Sheriff's Office provides
crimestopper reports weekly through TACC-9 news for recent crimes and
wanted persons.
Public Presentations - The Sheriff's Office is available for any of your public
events and can provide an array of presentation topics for your group.
