The LCSO provides media copies of all incident and arrest reports at the Sheriff's Reocrds Office located at 130 S. Queen Street, Kinston, NC.
Each week, the LCSO releases a pdf report of all weekly mugshots for inmates who enter the detention center. This is sent by email to media outlets.
The LCSO Narcotics Division with assistance from NCALE, Grifton Police Department, Kinston Police Department, LCSO SRT and CCRT executed a search warrant at 239 Contentnea Drive in Grifton on October 18. The LCSO CCRT with assistance from the Narcotics Division busted a marijuana growing operation on October 17 in the Grifton area of Lenoir County. A consent search of the residence yielded the seizure of approximately 40 marijuana plants that were being grown in the residence.

A wanted man suspected of robbing a bank in Jacksonville, NC was arrested today by Lenoir County Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force of the US Marshals Service of the Eastern District of NC. The arrest took place in the Grifton area of Lenoir County.
On October 10, 2013 a Lenoir County Sheriff’s deputy (Resource Officer) at South Lenoir High School, Deep Run, NC, was made aware of an allegation of a sexual relationship between a South Lenoir music teacher and an 18 year old South Lenoir High School student. The information was derived from school administrators at South Lenoir High School. A criminal investigation... ensued and as a result the teacher, Jennifer SinClair, age 28, was arrested at her Lenoir County home on October 11, 2013 by Detective Christy Smith. SinClair was taken to the Lenoir County courthouse and charged with (2) counts of SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH A STUDENT. She was given a $15,000 bond, which she later made and was released.
Sheriff Chris Hill stated, “The school system acted quickly to investigate the rumors of this relationship. My officers ran with the information and obtained a formal confession from SinClair and were able to obtain an interview with the student, which corroborated the statement of SinClair. None of the acts are believed to have occurred at the school and the relationship appears to have been of a short duration.”
Sheriff Chris Hill announced that he has used seized drug money to purchases two full service canines for the LCSO to assist in investigations and search and rescue. On October 10, 2013, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office brought an armed robbery investigation to a close after serving outstanding warrants on a suspect for his involvement in an armed robbery that occurred on October 6 inside of the Stop One Convenience Store in LaGrange.
On October 10, 2013, a Goldsboro Police Officer Daryl Cato came into contact with ...Christopher Shane Harrell and arrested him for the outstanding warrant for the robbery. Harrell was taken into custody and transferred to Lenoir County Sheriff’s Detectives. Harrell was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Harrell was confined in the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Detention Center under a $60,000.00 secured bond.
Sheriff Chris Hill stated, “This is an unusual case in that the armed robbery occurred within a business and a customer was the actual victim. Regardless, if someone takes an item from another by use of or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, the charge of armed robbery still applies. My folks worked quickly to find this suspect and he is now in a place where the incident will not be repeated.”

Christopher Tomas Avila, age 29, was arrested on 10/03/2013 for two counts of Indecent Liberties with a child. Christopher was arrested at 2761 Johnathan Lane La Grange, NC. He was given a $100,000 secured bond and placed in the W.E. "Billy" Smith Detention Center.
